Thanks for posting Mark.

I'm also curious about the 3rd 74E. I presume it will either be used on the current YUL-FRA route or double up on the YYZ-FRA.

Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Neil,

ACtually the 3rd 74E is going to go for a heavy check in SIN..

Otherwise it would remain on YULFRA. Its slated to come back in November!

Thanks Mark. So AC will only have 2 operational 74E's until Nov 04.

Given that they are being given new interiors, it sounds like they will remain in the AC fleet though.  Smile

For YVR departures...

HKG should be added I think...at least daily flight with an additional outbound (inbound is direct HKG-YYZ, am I right?). A343-300 for YVR-HKG.

It is good to know AC is going to replace EVA Air on TPE route.

Mark,

If you're gonna post this stuff, at least get it right...

AC018 - daily A340-300
EVA10 - 5x a week B744. No, they are NOT being replaced.

and funny, somehow I guess AC doesn't serve HKG-YVR anymore

AC015 - daily A340-300
AC008 - daily A340-300

but AC changes their stuff all the time... TPE has been on/off, as has NGO, and HKG goes from double to daily, to just daily, back to double daily...

If AC gets the 340-500,s, how would this affect the schedule. This would free up 2 other aircraft. Any ideas?

Mark:

Thanks for the update. Think there remains some fine-tuning for the summer particularly where the 74E's are concerned. I can't fathom that a Combi will be pulled out of service for a heavy check during the busiest season of the year, especially in light of the current aircraft shortage.

I predict that equipment has been swapped between 876 (A330) and 874 (B74E). In additon 848/849 to London is only showing a Combi 4 days per week, which still doesn't account for the remaining 3 days. Figured they routed it between YYZ-YVR on turns, but haven't been able to track it down.
I would wager that the 74E will be shipped off to SIN in September.

Frankly, I'm stunned that AMS has shifted to S/Y (Super Comfort/Hospitality), as the inventory is already adjusted in RESIII. ZRH is still internally showing J/Y, guess it is still under "review". Think "S" class needs to be upgauged in terms of service. Why not sell it as an Economy Plus product, considering the aircraft is configured as such. Throw in complementary spirits (wine and beer is free throughout), a toiletry kit, and a slightly upgraded meal. Just my two cents of course.

Also, unless recently adjusted, consistent with years past, think 884 YULCDG operates as all "Y".

P.S. Hope your interview went well!!

Rod,

Routes still under consideration include (I got this info today):

YUL-FCO (AC doesnt want out of YYZ because AZ is there daily)
YUL-MAD (see note below)
YYZ-SCL/EZE splitting up
YYZ-GIG

Whats interesting to note is that apparently, YYZMAD has been suspended and the project moved over to YUL.

Heard the same info as you. Definitely see SCL/EZE going there separate ways. Can't see GIG starting in our summer, which is their winter season.

It comes down to the same old thing. AIRCRAFT, AIRCRAFT, AIRCRAFT!! Where the hell are they coming from? But concurrent with cabin crew hiring, somebody must know something that isn't being shared.

MR R

P.S. Also regarding FCO, think we may have previously discussed a contentious labour issue involving the local AC staff who were terminated, which may preclude the airline from returning to Italy for a year.

It's a "luxury" economy class. Like Economy Plus on United, World Traveler Plus on British Airways, but I think a little better.

AC is selling super comfort.

SuperComfort is a business class seat, without the service. There is on traditional low-yield routes.

Few more fine tuning changes since initial posting:

AC838 YUL-LHR & AC839 LHR-YUL All 'Y' service (SuperComfort dropped)

AC884 YUL-CDG & AC885 CDG-YUL All 'Y' service (SuperComfort never planned)

AC848 YYZ-LHR & AC849 LHR-YYZ Daily 74E changed to 2X74E & 5xA330

AC990 YYZ-GRU Daily except Monday

AC856 YYZ-LHR & AC857 LHR-YYZ Daily A330 changed to B767-300 (This one a shocker..856 has always been the "flagship" YYZ-LHR flight)

Do AC's East Asian and Delhi services attract a lot of passengers from the US? Ive flown AC to NRT and HKG from the US, primarily because they offered the cheapest fares and the most convenient times.

the CRS shows AC856 (YYZ-LHR) operated by a 763 but AC857 (LHR-YYZ) operated by a 333. Kind of weird but that's in the system.

FraT:

Programming does things in strange phases. Last week YYZFRA was changed to 2 X 74E's but the return reflected 1 74E and 1 A330. Similarly..flight 848 YYZLHR. Now operating 74E twice weekly, but 849 the return is showing four times weekly. Strange system!!

The big mystery to us is what is happening to the 3rd 74E regarding routing.

AC872/AC873 daily
AC876/AC877 daily
AC848/AC849 twice weekly (officially)....

So what is happening to third aircraft the other 5 days per week? Nobody seems to know. Rumor is 880/881 YYZCDGYYZ.
