What Seat Pitches F, C And Economy On EK A340-500?

What are the First , Business and Economy class seat pitches on emirates new A340-500's , will the pitches be standardized on all EK long haul fleet ?

Eco class is 32 inches, business I think is either 58 or 60 and First class is 75-76.

As for fleet standardisation, these new seats will be put in their newly A 346s and possibly B 773ERs too.

I dont think so that the current B 772-773 and A 332 fleet may get this sort of an upgrading. The only aircraft that is likely to get upgraded would be the B 777-200ERs due to their longer range capability similar to the A 345.

EK however seriously needs to think about upgrading their 3 star F & J class product on its A 332-B 777 fleet as the seat pitches are TOO SMALL and DONT RECLINE THAT MUCH. Compared to CX's, GFs and SQs J class product on B 777s and A 330s, EKs is hopeless esp in the A 330s!!!

Behramjee, you seem to know the topic well, so would you say that EK economy is better to the Gulf than BA or the Europeans, or does it depend on specifically what aircraft you get? And would I be right to assume you would avoid paying up for the premium cabin on the 330 or 777 if you say these are "3 *" services? I once flew EK business class on an A310 and I was rather surprised it was 2-3-2 and not 2-2-2 if I recall correctly...

I think that it will take more time for EK to upgrade their current fleet of 330 & 777 coz they are looking for more planes so they have to take as much pax as they can till they get their requirement of planes.

Flying from Europe to the Gulf, EKs eco class on A 332s and B 777s are as good as BAs-AFs-LXs however the A 345 from LGW is a bit better because of the high quality Inflight Entertainment avbl on video in Eco class.

As for me paying premium for EK F & J from Europe to the Middle East, I would only do so on the A 345 operated LGW-DXB-LGW flight and not on anyother aircraft operated flight of EK.

If you want to fly business class from Europe to DXB then the best two choices are BA and LX (SWISS) or GULF AIR AIRBUS A 330-200 (332) only...their A 343s are not that great at all in any class...they dont have tvs in every seat, F class pitch is only 62 inches whilst J is 50 whereas their A 332 has a seat pitch of 82 in F and 60 in J and all seats in F-J-Y have tvs.

However at the end of the day, my choice for Business class from Europe to the Gulf would be on a BA B 777 or B 744 or LX A 332/A343!!!

Behramjee, I think EK uses their A345s that can fly 16000km on long routes like DXB-SYD. But their B772ERs which can fly up to 14000km are used on shorter flights. I believe longest in their system opb B772ER is DXB-PER?

I think they do need to upgrade their products a bit perhaps not to the A345 standard but something better. Poor seat width currently!

You're crazy. EK offers HUGE seatpitch in economy on most of their airliners to make up for the narrow seats.

Hamed, you're in DXB, what is your preference as a local? When I lived out there (mid-late '90s) EK 777 and 330 were big news, replacing A300 and 310, but I guess today the standard is higher for Europe-Gulf flights....I don't like the BA flat beds, I don't mind a regular seat in biz class if it's comfortable and roomy....Anyway, mabrook, your local airline is growing up quite nicely, even coming here to NYC later this year!

Gigneil...I was talking about the F and J class seats of EKs on its A 330s and B 777s and not of its Y-Eco class seats. Eco class seats on all EK aircraft I admit are v good and they have a 5 star eco class product but not in F & J class on their A 330s and B 777s!!!
