Hopefully this aircraft is a little better than their others, I was at IFP the other night and one of their planes had landed (charter for Harrah's) it wasn't looking so good. Don't know their money situation but they would be better served if they ordered a new 737-900. Be like Gordon Bethune! "Hi you are flying one of the newest planes!"
I tell you, the ground crew at IFP ruined a perfect night shot of Sun Country
hybrid 737. I am so mad!

Are you serious? Do you realize how much more a "brand new" airliner cost versus a used MD-80???? Allegiant Air probably couldn't afford a brand new airliner, no matter how badly you wished for it.
So many people on this forum have no clue and/or idea how much an airliner cost, especially one directly from Boeing and/or Airbus..........
Geesh...........
So sorry to hear about them ruining your Sun Country hybrid shot, also.

Scotty, this aircraft like the other -83s came from SAS. The MD-87s used to be with Ford. The MD-82s came from SAS and Continental. More aircraft are scheduled to arrive later in the year.
NIKV69, of course it would take time to get another type added to the certificate. So I expect they will keep getting MD-80 series for a while.

Allegiant doesn't want a new 737. The like using their old beat up MD 80's That is why they can offer service to these little towns for such a good price and still make money. People know that when they pay $39.00 each way they are not going to be flying on a full service airline and don't expect it! That is another reason why G4 flies to Vegas. They know that people going there don't really care how they get there they just want to save all the money for the casino. I am one of them! Flying to anywhere else I want the best service and a nice hotel. When going to Vegas I want a cheap room and plane ticket!

The latest MD80, N864GA (ex LN-RMJ) is actually an -82. It was listed as an -83 in the FAA database initially, but it has been corrected.
SAS only had two -83's .. they are now N861GA and N862GA.

Does anyone knows if Allegiant will get any more MD-87s? It's a rare treat to see a rare bird in, of all places, Bullhead City Arizona. Often I have to correct folks here because they think it's a DC-9. Of course once I tell them what it really is, they look at me as if I'm from another planet. Oh well. Regards.

Thanks LN-MOW,
I noticed that discrepancy elsewhere but didn't know which info was correct. So that makes the fleet:
2 MD-87s
4 MD-82s
3 MD-83s

We actually are getting a G4 charter to Laughlin NV this wednesday, I believe from the paperwork i was looking at it is indeed an MD-87 that is going to be used. I know they used a MD-87 for one a while back. God I hate loading those things, the cargo bins are the size of a shoe box, oh I can hardly waite to cram 170 bags in it. I smell a sick day comming up!!!

Jaydavis,
I know how much new planes cost, Allegiant needs to pony up, get some new birds, bring Gordon Bethune in for some consulting, in fact his retiring from CO can be so he can become the boss of Allegiant! He wants to take this little airline and make it a GIANT!! I am still mad about the pic but I will be back there and may tell the ground crew to be more tidy, it sure was a nice shot at night, great lighting. No suicide here, I am immortal, like Highlander.
FlagshipAZ,
I love IFP, especially at night. Allegiant's MD-87s are cool but are usually filthy and don't look so hot, But I love Sun Country's colorful planes.
