Here is a link to a just breaking story that VS will increase flights to the US this summer. Business is picking up. As for the new IAD flight, it has been rumored for some time now.

Great news ..
I've just returned from a BOS trip on BA - the service was aweful, the seats were cramped (Prem Econ out and Club W back), the IFE brokedown and on both flights the at seat computer power supply did not work.
But I needed an earlier flight that the current single VS LHR-BOS at 16:30pm.

VS is doing a MORNING flight from BOS?!?! I had heard rumours that they were interested in one, but with BA and AA already having departures at 0815 and 0900, respectively, I never thought they'd do it.
It'll definitely make the mornings a bit more interesting at BOS.

V2fix,
How can the seats are crampt when BA WTP+ has the same seat pitch as the VS product and the Club World pitch is like some 20 inches bigger than the VS product?

BOS has the AA156 departure at 0900 (does not operate on Saturdays), the BA238 at 0815 which will return to daily service at the end of March and now VS54 at 0800! That is more than JFK since VS operates its daylight service from EWR. I never knew that there was such a demand for daylight flights beacuse it wasn't that long ago that the BA238 was performing quite poorly. I guess times are changing??

What are the exact details of Bermuda ll, I know it is supposed to take pressure off LHR by limiting the number of slots, right? When did it start, and why was Texas singled out?

Will Virgin Atlantic re-introduce the 747-200 London/Gatwick to San Francisco service? The service which was run in addition to the daily 747-400 London/Heathrow to San Francisco proved to have very commendable passenger counts a few years ago when it was operated during the summertime!

KZBA: AA is generally kicking our ass in the mornings. BA238 does do well, particularly during the peak travel times (summer, school holidays, Christmas, etc) but it can also be a real dud at times. AA tends to have a bit more of a regular passenger load. I don't expect VS to do real well on the route but I found out the reason for these flights is simply slot retention. VS is dropping CPT for the season and instead of losing the slot at LHR they are operating these flights as a way to keep the slots. VS isn't really in this for the money.
One thing I will say about the morning flights is that they have their cult followers. Some people just love the morning flights and now will only take BA238 versus the overnight flights from BOS.
