Bomb Threat In DUS Last Year, Airport Will Sue

A 29 year old student admitted last week at court that she is responsible for the bomb threat that caused a major chaos at Duesseldorf airport in September last year.

Today airport spokesman Torsten Hiermann said: "If the court will find her guilty, we will sue her in a lawsuit, we demand a compensation of a few million Euro because we lost passenger fees and we had higher personnel costs that day, our airport shops and restaurants lost also a lot of money because the airport was closed for several hours".

The airport is not the only company that will sue the student, also the legal departments of a few airlines are checking if they can sue her. Marco Dardomo, spokesman of LTU, said that the airline lost 150.000 EUR because of the bomb threat.

That is not all, the Federal Border Guard and the police will also check if they can sue her. "We had very high personnel costs that day, several hundreds police officers searched the whole airport for several hours, that was an expensive action" said Gerd Spliedt who is spokesman of the police departmend in Duesseldorf.

More information (sorry, only in German) can be found here.

I hope that she has to go to jail and that every company which lost money because of the bomb threat will sue her. The only problem: I doubt that a 29 year old stundent can pay several million Euro compensation, so it is actually needless to sue her.

I've said this before, but when someone does something stupid like this that throws thousands of people's lives into chaos some serious jail time is in order.

I sincerely hope that she will use her time behind bars to reflect on the extreme stupidity of her act.

I forgot to mention that she was a victim of her own "joke", her flight to the Canary Islands was several hours late because the airport was closed. How stupid can a person be?

AFAIK, she was making the calls from her own cell phone. This says all. The result of the civil action will be that, whatwever she earns, for the rest of her life she´ll be living on social wellfare levels, because everything else she owns and her salary aboveminimum living expenses will be confiscated.
