This was planned and then cancelled pre-9/11. Good to hear new service coming through for EUG.

Hey all... I would like to think of my self as one of EUG's REPs on A.net as there are so few of us here...lol... Anywho... Yes the service was planned Pre 9/11 but at the last minute the planes were needed somewhere else and DL pulled the plans quickly. This has been brewing for several months and I was very glad to see the official news... As Bob Noble (EUG's Airport Manager) returned from ATL a while ago but nothing was announced. It was proposed to start at the end of May, looks like we lucked out. However, I would like to know if one of these aircraft will over night here in EUG... If so, I do not know where OO plans to park it. They already RON 3 CR2s and 1 CR7 for YZ, and we have only two jet bridges for OO... there are two additional jet bridges but they are often utilized by UX, one is a perminant YZ (AWE) gate. THe other one i guess is technialy "unclaimed" so maybe OO will use that gate for Delta Connection operations! Must say I am looking forward to it... Hey George, if your still going to UO we should try to get out there to see the inagural... I can prolly get some security passes so let me know!

My sincere thanks, ScottysAir... for your truthful topic title "Delta Connection Begun New Service..."

It is so blatantly false to represent new service as "DL" or "CO" or "NW" or "UA" or "AA" or whomever when, in reality, the service will be operated by RJ or turboprop aircraft by some surrogate airline, most of whose staff earn wages hovering around the poverty line.

wow... I wonder what your agenda is.  Innocent

Delta Connection isn't selling the ticket. Delta is. It's coded as a Delta flight, the service provided is a ticket sold by Delta.

Yes one will overnight. Arrives EUG at 9:25pm and departs at 6:30am following morning. I've never been there, but I am sure the airport and Skywest will figure something out. There are plenty of stations that park aircraft away from the terminal and just tow them over as departure time nears. But you would know more about the airport then me.

It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported this was a possible new route on Jan 30. They stated there were over $1 million in incentives on the table as part of the negotiations.

According to the paper, the agreement was to include incentives from both Eugene and SLC in the form of:

  • Eugene will provide a $400,000 cash "insurance policy" that Delta will make a profit the first year. In other words, at the end of a year, the city will replace any loses the airline incurs, up to $400,000.

  • Members of the Eugene-Springfield business community have deposited $560,000 in a "travel bank." Delta will draw down the account as the businesses book flights during the first year. Any money remaining in the account will be issued as Delta travel vouchers.

  • Eugene will subsidize the airline $100,000 annually for two years to market and advertise the route.

  • The Oregon Department of Aviation will throw another $25,000 into the marketing pot annually for two years.

  • Salt Lake City will give Delta $50,000 annually for two years for marketing.

  • The Utah Air Travel Commission will give Delta a $25,000 marketing subsidy this year and may renew it for a second year.

We don't really have any Hardstands at EUG... There are is only only place I can think where they will be able to park it... It appears right now its going to be using A2...which has a Jet bridge, however, this will become difficult as soon as YZ starts overnighting another aircraft.
