Rolls Royce Deliver The First Trent 900 To Airbus

Had done a search but it didnt come up with anything.

Built at Derby, UK the first Trent 900 engine has arrived in TLS for testing ready for the first flight of the A380

taken from Rolls Royce web site

The first Trent 900 will be flight tested on an A340-300 flying test bed in Toulouse.

Thats gonna be so cool. Finally the 343 will climb with some umf!

That will look interesting. The Trent 500 didn't seem to have much clearance on the A340-300 (or was it a -200?) wing when it was tested. Wonder what the clearance will be with the Trent 900 on the wing?

Yes, the Trent 900 engine is huge. The reason is simple: that 116" (294.64 cm) front fan, the same fan diameter as the front fan on the GE90-115B engine used on the 777-300ER. Rolls-Royce and Engine Alliance built that big a front fan so the front fan can turn at slower speeds, dramatically reducing engine noise.
