JET 2 - BFS Or LBA For New Expansion?

With Jet 2 starting Belfast - Prague later in the year, and with the Northern Ireland executive having funds available to subsidise new routes. Does this mean Jet 2 will take the subsidies and expand at BFS rather than LBA?

Will there be no further expansion of routes from Leeds Bradford this year? Anyone in the know??

Given that they've been hiring for Belfast-based staff & that the Prague route barely utilises the 1 plane, I'm expecting to see a few more BFS routes added in the not-too-distant future. Open to suggestions for where they might fly, though...

simple answer is both. New aircraft are likely to go into BFS but there's considerable scope for exapnsion from within the existing LBA fleet of 6.

6 based units on a utilisation pattern of 3 return sectors per day gives you the potential to run 126 departures per week. Jet2's summer schedule from LBA as it stands has 88, so potentially they can push up capacity by 43% as when markets develop, slots become available etc etc.

LBA - Paris CDG would give bmi's high fares a run for their money... or would that pi** Bishop off enough to set up a bmi baby base @ LBA going head-to-head with Jet2?

I used to love the smell of Jet-A in the morning...

Perhaps an LS LBA-BRU flight?

What's the LS philosophy on airports they intend to fly to ? Are they going the Ryanair route of flying to airports miles away from the cities they serve or are they going to serve the main airports like Easyjet ?.

If they serve the main airports then an LBA-FRA route could prove popular, especially if it's timed right they could pick up alot of connecting traffic onto LH services as well as the business traffic that woud otherwise have to travel to MAN or take a connecting flight.

thanks for the replies.

Im hoping for FRA from LBA and maybe some Italian and Scandinavian routes!

here's hoping 2004 is another successful one for JET2 and a record one for LBA!!

Agree with Leezyjet; it will be interesting to see where Jet2 go from here at LBA. FRA would be an interesting choice, I don't think this is served from NCL which does have some German flights, makes me wonder why not though.

BMI did announce CPH as a destination about a year ago but it never started, could this be a possibility?

Other threads/press stories have mentioned LGW and Newquay as possibilities in the past
