WJ/AC @ YYZ // US Airways/WN @ PHL - Parallel?

I read an article (link below) on Westjet and Air Canada last night, and a few references were made to Southwest and US Airways in PHL. I raise this question: Could a parallel be drawn between Southwest's move into PHL and Westjet's major expansion in YYZ? I know that a lot of people are already predicting the demise of US Airways because of this, but what about Air Canada? They are not out of CCAA (chapter 11 equivalent), are expected to have a domestic CASM 50% higher than Westjet, and still haven't proved that their costs are low enough to be profitable.
