I heard something that American might oull out of CLE, has anyone heard that one. I doubt it though. And what destinations do they serve out of CLE?
Thanks, TriJetFan1

ORD 3x S80
MIA 1x S80
LGA, DFW, ORD RJ's

I'm assuming they meant mainline, and if you really did hear them say that, it wouldn't surprise me.

American Airlines mainline is completely pulled out of Cleveland. Only American Eagle serves there, and possibly American Connection. Only its feeders are at CLE. I doubt they will withdraw feeder services from CLE. I am unsure of the routes, but I would like to say ORD-CLE and DFW-CLE are pretty likely routes. As for American Airlines, they are gone. No more mainline. One of the last mainline flights to CLE was STL-CLE with an MD-80. No more Sad

Thrust is mistaken. There are still 4 daily mainline as the STL capacity was shifted to ORD and MIA flight is new. CLE isn't necessarily a stellar market for AA so it wouldn't surprise me to see them pull mainline but thats based off of nothing but pure speculation.

Should have looked at the first response to this topic. Was hopeful for a minute when it seemed there was still mainline service to CLE from STL. But STL-CLE was indeed one of the routes AA cut from Lambert.

They won't pull out of CLE. They pulled out of CAK years ago (AAEagle) so if they pulled out of CLE they would have no presence in NE Ohio. Thats a good chunk of people. They will stay in Cleveland.

I doubt that they will pull out of CLE.

They do serve mainline to ORD and MIA.

American Eagle to ORD, DFW and LGA.

When did AmericanConnection stop going to STL? Was it in November?

AA623, I don't think they'll pull out, but if Trijet actually heard it as he says he did, it wouldn't shock me. As for STL-CLE, it stopped in November and obviously wasn't a moneymaker before the cuts for AA. Much of this can be attributed to WNBig thumbs up

If AA wants to scale down their CLE operation, the worst it could get would be to go all Eagle service.

and MIA flight is new.

American Airlines has operated daily MIA-CLE service for years, since the early 1990s or so. MIA-CMH was introduced in July 2003 and MIA-CVG in October 2003, those are new.

Considering that there is always a pesky rumor that CO will close or scale back the CLE hub, I don't think AA or anyone else is about to drop CLE from a route system.

But not only did AE once fly ORD-CAK, but AA used to fly the route about 15 years ago. My father used to go to Akron 2 or 3 times a year for business, and he usually flew either an MD-80 or a 727.
