Opinions On FAA's Rulings

There is a lot of negative press regarding the FAA's decisions and rulings. I am not saying I agree or disagree, but I'm curious what everyone thinks. One certainly does not want the FAA to make hasty decisions which could have a negative impact on other fuctions of flight, but it also seems it took the FAA too long make a ruling on TWA 800 which is 8 years ago.
