Hi,

I was looking for flights from FLL to SJC in July and the cheapest turns out to be Ted-United connecting in DEN. But both Ted flights (# 1401 FLL-DEN and #1400 DEN-FLL) appear as being operated by A319-321 (???)!! I'll bet no one has seen A319-300 before, huh? What is this, a prank?

By the way this shows up on Expedia....weird! On United.com it shows as being flown on a A32S....

Blame Expedia.......TED and UAL for that matter don't have anything but A320's.

Fun stuff......99% of the general public wouldn't have known the difference.

United does have A319s, but they're -100 series!

Let us know when you are out here...I work across the street from SJC -- if you've got a 300mm lens you can get some very clean shots of the north ramp.

judging by what you wrote...

A319-321 i would assume anything between A319 to A321 which is the whole A320 family ex A318...

Steve,

Let you know when I drop by, my brother lives very near SJC (Willow Glen, is it?) but he's not into aviation that much.

TWA902,

that assumption would be acceptable if Ted flew anything else that wasn't A320's. UA flies A319's and A320's but no A321's......

A319-321 translates to "Airbus 319 equipment or similar type to Airbus 320 or similar type to Airbus 321." - from the sabre reservations system

I fly a lot of Airbii on United. In fact, going to SJC again this year (Game Developers Conference) in late March. There is a great park south of the field where you get a lot of overflys!

On occaision some booking sites will show the a/c type 32S. But the websites that show the type for UA/Ted would show the a/c type specifically especially when you book your seats on a seat map.

AJ,

unlike the A320 & A321 , I believe that ALL the A319 in service are -100...

Future FO,

the A32S designation appears on United.com, not just any booking site. What does the "S" stand for anyway?

FlySSC,

correct, all A319's are -100 series.

I believe A32S refers to an A320 with Ted's seating configuration - that is, 60 Economy Plus seats and 96 regular coach seats.

No it doesn't, I believe 'S' just means 'series' - I've seen this on many airline reservation systems in the past, it's used when the a/c type can be any of the A32x series.

United is using 32S as the aircraft code for the A320's operating for Ted (single class). Since the OAG's code 32S refers to the Airbus 320 Series, which can range from the 319 to the 321, it is likely that this other service is indicating that the aircraft can range from one to the other, or 319-321. I doubt that Expedia knows that 32S has unique meaning with United since if not mistaken Expedia works off Sabre, not Apollo.

Just my thoughts......
