I've seen a lot of photos of Triple 7's where the plane's engine is partially exposed like this one...

It's the thrust reverser being deployed. The rear part of the cowling moves back directing the bypass air in a forward angled direction. Helps the a/c slow down after landing.

Its the Thrust reverser being used, this type is called a "Fan Cascade" due to the fact it diverts the fan air stream forward to reverse thrust. the other common type is the "Clamshell " for diverting the exhaust gases for TR purposes.
