Greetings all,
Just a few questions about air-travel within (and around) the D.R.

Does anyone know what airlines are currently serving La Romana? I believe American and Air Transat, maybe some others.

Do any European airlines still fly to Santo Domingo, Punta Cana? (Iberia?)

And lastly, and maybe most importantly, have any flights been affected by the situation in Haiti?

Thanks for any and all info.
Good day.

From La Romana:

Air Canada, YYZ-LRM, Saturday A320
American Airlines, JFK-LRM, Saturday 757-200
American Airlines, MIA-LRM, daily 737-800
American Eagle, SJU-LRM, daily ATR-72
US Airways, CLT-LRM, Saturday A319

As far as European airlines to the Dominican Republic goes, Iberia serves Santo Domingo and Air France serves both Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. A whole host of leisure airlines and charter airlines from Europe also serve the two airports.

CaboVerde:

Thanks for the wealth of information!! Very interesting

I was quite surprised with the relatively high volume of flights out of the US to Santa Domingo, especially the 3x daily by AA from JFK. What is the reason for this high traffic volume?? Tourism, business, or a combination of the two. Would love to hear some comments.

Thanks
Dr.DTW

Some tourism and business, but mainly VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives). There is a huge Dominican population in NY.
