Hey guys.. considering potential flight options and one of the segments would involve 3 hours on an CO Express ERJ 135/145 from SLC - IAH. Has anyone made this flight? Can you provide any insight as to what I should expect?

I did a 3-hour ERJ flight from PIT to IAH (and back).
I was dreading it going into it, but it turned out that it wasn't that bad. The seats weren't any more cramped than a mainline flight, and the service (CO Express) was very good. Plus, the ERJ rides very smoothly. I would rather have had a 737, but the ERJ was fine.

CoEx has great service. I am 6' 1'' and I was not bothered too much on the flight. I was more irritated at the fact that I got home 4 hours late. The seats were comfortable. Its not the best on anything over 2 hrs, but if your not too tall you will be fine. Its a great plane and CoEx has great service

Its not too bad depending on where you're sitting... I recently flew DFW-CLE on a CO Express ERJ which is just under three hours. The seats on Continental Express are pretty comfortable and the meal service is the same as you'd recieve on a three hour Continental flight (with the exception that you will not recieve a hot sandwich).
The best seats on the -145 are 1A and 12A. If you can't get those, at least try to get an seat on the A-side of the aircraft. If you can avoid it, I would stay away from the BC side.

I've done SLC-IAH on the ERJ countless times. It isn't that bad, and as far as a Regional jet goes CO Ex ERJ's are the best. Some may argue this, but I don't feel as cramped on a ERJ as I do on CRJ's. The service isn't that bad either, expect a cold cut sub and a couple drink services.

3 hours on an ERJ I would not do... Well, unless I had the Single Seat (WindowAisle). I dunno, I still probably would not do it. RJs were originally built for flights 1 hour or less. I will not fly on FL 717 to the west until they get the XM Radio in there, that way I will have something to listen to.

I recently returned from Virginia on Continental. My segments between IAH and RIC were on the ERJ145XR. Coming back to IAH was a 3 hour flight. After hearing all the horror stories on this forum about the ERJs, I was expecting the worst. To my surprise it wasn't a bad flight at all. I enjoyed the experience. The takeoffs seem a lot faster because you are so close to the ground. I do have to say though that when I boarded my flight from IAH to SNA, the 737 seemed massive after being in the ERJ.

I can't believe how spoiled, and stuck up some people seem. I mean I understand that for the amount we pay to fly, it may not seem fair to have to fly in a plane that holds fewer people (not one that is less spacious per passenger), but you could be driving. That may be the alternative if we don't take what we can get. Plus I know you all like just being at the airport anyhow. So lets hear it for 747s on DFW-TOL, DTW-PNS, CLE-OKC huh.
