I just got info from mucforum.de that LH has coordinated 3 weekly flights from MUC to YVR starting in June. Whether these are just "slot reservations" or serious intentions for that route is not yet known, new information is expected in a couple of days. The new flight to Lahore seems to be introduced from FRA.
It seems that LH might give up their plans of starting MUC-PEK in favor of MUC-YVR. Obviously LH partners wish to fly that route instead (mentioned are Air Canada with 3 weekly 744 flights and Varig (!!) with GRU-MUC-PEK).

Wow!
That would be awesome! If this happens, YVR is really on an international expansion path. Maybe they better build the new gates at the international terminal quickly!

A MUC-YVR flight would make great sense since YVR-FRA is always filled to capacity during the summer. It was the last route to be served by a 742 due to its large capacity and with the 346 being introduced on the route, I believe their is a slight reduction in capacity. Another 2-class aircraft on a MUC-YVR would help fill the Germany-western Canada summer demand.

it would be wonderful if Varig returned to MUC and especially, if they continued their flights to PEK!
it might be interesting to note that in the mid-nineties, Varig already planned to introduce a GRU-FRA-PEK flight, or at least examined that possibility.
exciting news!

I haven't heard anything about the Swiss rumour, though I remember a few years ago Swissair and Air Canada code-shared on a route from YVR-YYC-ZRH during the summer season.
B-HOX: I heard that for some government reason, Air France is currently unable to serve CDG-YVR?

This is great news!
I agree that the flights are always packed and last October when I tried booking a flight it was not available at all. Flights were routed through AC flights or via the US with UA or to PDX.

The YVR-MUC seems more and more likely as I have heard that MUC-PEK will not be operated by LH this year, but both RG and CA are just considering those flights (RG from GRU)
