Need I repeat the question of this topic? Has AA even considered the possibility of adding non-stpp service to AA), Japan">NRT from ORD? Also, given their large presence at SFO, does AA plan to start SFO-LHR?

AA already flies ORD-NRT

Also, they've considered SJC-LGW in the past (but instead chose CDG), now, the buzz from the bees is SJC-STN.... though AA has revealed no intention of serving said route at this time.

Oh.....thanks for the notification, ConcordeBoy. It did seem highly probable AA would've considered that route. Apparently, they already have, and approve of it, and use it.

AA probably doesn't have the slots to fly SFO-LHR.

American already flies to AA), Japan">NRT from ORD.

American Airlines launch SJC-CDG in April 2001. The flight never did well. It was canceled in September 2001, but it was not as a result of 11 September. They were planning on ridding of the route after October in the first place, or at least making it seasonal.

No, they don't have it anymore. It was short lived.

As MAH already described, SJC-CDG was launched on the same day as the equally short-lived SJC-TPE.... both flights christened the new runway.

they had SJC-CDG with a 763
but I can't find it anymore either on AA.com or ADP.fr so I guess it's discontinued
on ADP.fr you can find a so called SJC-CDG but in fact it's the IAD flight to CDG...why UA always makes believe they have "direct services" while it's not the case: it was like this for a "direct" MIA flight to CDG (with of course IAD stop) a while ago  Insane

The 763ER's were used for routes that far apart? I would think AA would use the 777 for SJC-CDG. Also, why did AA pull their 772ER's from CDG? UA, DL, and CO still keep their 772ERs in CDG.

It's not a difficult concept really...  Big grin

DIRECT flights bear the same flight number, but may include multiple stops
NONSTOP flights are just that, nonstop between the two destinations mentioned.

Also, why did AA pull their 772ER's from CDG?

Because AA found that they could use said aircraft more profitably elsewhere.... why else?  Big grin

thrust: "UA, DL, and CO still keep their 772ERs in CDG"

I wish it was the case: UA operates now 763 on SFO and ORD flights to CDG while it was a 100% 777 fleet a while ago  Crying

Concordeboy: thanks for the explanation; nevertheless I think for most people "direct" means "non-stop" well, at least on this side of the atlantic  Wink/being sarcastic

AA's been flying ORD-Tokyo Narita since '97/'98, not a new route.

I heard that the SCJ-CDG route was so long that it approached the maximum crew time limits for the 763. Apparently the flight had god-like powers at SJC b/c any ground delay would cause the crew to go illegal.

There has been "talk" that AA will be starting SFO-LHR flights, but this hasn't been confirmed as of yet.

AA unfortunately pulled their 777s from the CDG market, with the introduction of two-class (Business/Coach) 767 service to secondary leisure markets, as CDG. AA's 777s are now only used in those markets in which a three-class product can sell itself, as LHR (for example).

Ezra-
The SJCCDG was approx 10.5 hours. It did not come dangerously close to crew rest times, but a delay of a few hours would cause problems. I took this flight several times, and at times it did carry fairly decent loads. For some reason it did better westbound than eastbound. However, overall it lost money and since the allmighty dollar rules.....In the future I would not be suprized to see some type of SJC-LON service, just dont know when...
