How many A340s do Swiss have? How many are on order? Where do they fly? And how much longer for their MD-11s?

How do you say "12 months" in Estonian?

They still serve Cairo with their MD-11s. Would be sad to see them go  Crying
They will be the last scheduled passenger operator with the MD-11(we still get scheduled Saudi MD-11Fs and the odd MD-11 from Finnair on charter to Hurghada)

The ZRH-GRU flight will switch to an A343 effective April 2 but not all are good news, LX is dropping BUE and the ZRH-GRU flight will operate 5x a week instead of daily. I wonder if it will come back to daily when it receives more 340s. Load factors for LX on this route are high mainly on F and C.

True, they are not going to be operating EZE with SWISS aircraft, however they will codeshare with someone, although the other airline has not been named yet. I believe TAM would be a good candidate...they already code-share with AA (also a oneworld member) on some US flights. In fact, if TAM were to join oneworld, it would be a good complement to LAN Chile in South America. Will we see TAM joining oneworld sometime soon? Now that the Varig/TAM merger is pretty much off (at least temporarily) it might be a possibility.

By not operating EZE themselves, LX can operate the GRU route with one aircraft. For now, it seems that GRU will get 5 x week service, even when all 9 of the new A340's have been delivered.

Cheers,
Patrick

So it's true Swiss is discontinuing the ZRH-EZE service indefinitely as of 26/03/04?

Just to clarify, LVZXV:

SWISS will no longer operate the GRU-EZE portion. They will continue to operate to GRU, with a codeshare-partner taking care of the GRU-EZE segment.

SWISS never operated ZRH-EZE non-stop; they always stopped at GRU first(outbound and inbound).

Hope this helps.
