According to their homepage they will soon start to fly GUA-MEX. This is what I call rapid growth. I wish that they would add a news or what's new page, it would be more helpful to know what's going on with them.
nice and spacious airports in need of new airlines and flights... GUA or FRS anyone?... anyone at all?

They have been after Mexico City since ages. Recently Tikal Jets changed ownership and management and one thing that kept constant was its plans to expand service to Mexico and Monterrey.
They are currently operating GUA-CUN-GUA twice a week.

It will be interesting to see if this airline will steal MX customers in the MEx-GUA route and if MX or 6A will respond (or make a preemptive move) by offering MTY-GUA too.

Interesting! Would there be enough demand for MTY-GUA?

I don't k now about the demand, I really don't know a lot of people that study at the Tech de Monterrey, but it would be interesting. I don't think that 6A would be interested at all in the Guatemalan market, its so small and closed that it almost looks like a club of airlines. Sometimes I'm impressed that none of the current airlines that fly to GUA have left.

I will get you the schedule and more details for you guys to spot.

I think the key to their success in the flights to Mexico City will be service on par with MX (tough thing to accomplish) and good fares. MX currently flies the route twice daily if I am not mistaken using A319's.

Good to see Tikal Jets expanding. I think they haven't made any publicity here in Guatemala, as they made the publicity when they began service to Cancun and Havana.
There is a rumor that they will begin service de Florida don't know if they will serve MIA or FLL. Does anyone have any information about this route?

They were talking about GUA-FLL for a while. It even used to be mentioned on thier route map under "future service". I have not heard anything for a while, though.

In my opinion, the more airlines and planes in MEX, the better. I insist as I have written in other posts, if certain conditions are met, Mexico should have a total open skies policy

I think that the GUA- any city in the US will be in the long term, the very long term, since GUA is a cat. 2 airport and accordingly no national airline can fly to the US. I'm not sure about this though.
Oh and an open skies with Mexico would be great, especially for Guatemala.

Well according to this FAA page (http://www.faa.gov/avr/iasa/iasadef5.htm) it will definitely be hard for them to fly to the US, unless they wet lease a plane.

MIAMIx707,
Last I heard, they where gonna keep one B111 and cannibalize the other for parts, 3 days ago I took off from GUA to STL and saw one of them with out the tail, so it is true; sad but true.
Pzurita1,
On the route GUA-MTY, if they in fact do it, I think they will take their time since they just started flight now to MEX, and they only have 2 of the 3 DC 9 that they are supposed to have; the third one is in Mexico city according on a tread by Ghost77 at /discussions/general_aviation/read.main/1468875/6/.
"N1003P a Dc9-32 its due for Tikal Jets. (As soon as they get this -32 Tikal will stop sending their -51s to MEX.) More over and good news for the spotters Tikal changed their scheduled! They'll get to MEX at 06:30 p.m and the return leg will be at 09:30 p.m just to be on time for all European connections!"
