I wish to see MH to be on 3rd or 2nd place. But CX, EK & SQ are extremely hard contenders.

KEno, so do I, I hope they come 2nd at least. Once they upgrade their first and business class this year, then it will be a level playing field.

For some reason I don't think that SQ will be fighting for top honours.
Maybe a fight between EK and CX???
Who knows.Although the top 5 posted by Chrisrad comes clos.
PS:
Does anyone know when the announcement is made??

In order my guess is

1. Emirates
2. Cathay Pacific
3. Singapore Airlines
4. Qantas
5. Virgin Atlantic

I cannot see Qantas gaining the No 1 award from Skytrax despite the fact they were just awarded the 2004 ATW award for Airline of the year as the skytrax award seems to be loosely based on service aspects and personal opinion unlike the ATW award which is based on numerous factors mainly technical and financial excellence.

I think it will be Emirates this year. On a side note I expect JetBlue to be no1 within a few years.

ask not what your pilot can do for you, ask what you can do for your pilot

Yes, but what has technical and financial excellence got to do with the average passenger? Of course they are going to vote for the best service!

Although I think EK should be number 1, I read on a website that it was a 4 star airline and SQ was a 5 star airline. In that case, how could EK compare to SQ in terms of quality even though it is a 4 star airline?

With SQ's new service from LAX to SIN, with soon to be EWR-SIN, I think this makes them the top contender. Agreed, EK will be a close second.

EK a 4-star carrier? SQ a 5-star carrier? Who on earth is qualifying airlines into hotel standards?

Anyway, #1 will be Vietnam Airlines.

Chrisrad,

My point exactly thats why I made the point.
It is funny though how different awards seem to be based on different parameters though don't you think?

With all the more or less serious awards flying around, I've come to care about just one - the Air Transport World Ariline of the Year Award, whic this year was awarded to Qantas. Read ATW for their criteria. Well researched and serious. Previous winners include Southwest, Continental, SAS (a loooong time ago) and KLM/Northwest.
