Emirates is doubtlessly become one of the leading careers... one thing I am always wondering is why they do not join one of the main alliances...

is there any rumor I haven't heard of that this will happen soon?

My problem is that I somehow always try to avoid EK because I don't get any milage, although they sometimes have good deals.

Which airlines do EK have milage partnerships with?

With a LH M&M card or an AF Frequence Plus card, there is no chance of acquiring milage with EK, in near future, right?

If youre smart then you can do the following :

EK has alliances with UAL-BA-CO-DL-SQ-ANA-UL in SKYWARDS. So in short a mix combo of Star-One World and Sky Team. Fly any of those carriers and get FF Points on their program plus on EKs by just keeping your boarding pass and going the next day to the local EK office  Big grin ...heheeh thats what I do and it always works out for me. In this way u get points on 2 diff FFPs flying just once!!!

It is also the easiest way to get your account cancelled when you get caught.

It ain't worth it...

Yes, you are all right about Skywards.
EK and UL are the two major airlines of the "Skywards" alliance. Like Behramjee said, they are partnered with UA, DL, BA, SQ, and so on. When you fly on those airlines, you can get EK points.

What I'm wondering is this, however: I am part of AC's Aeroplan program. Lets say I get a UA frequent flyer membership. If I fly EK, can I earn miles on UA? Can I then turn those UA points into AC Aeroplan points? It would be great if I can!

First of all many thanks for your help... really appreciated... maybe I should also go for a BA FF Membership in order to be in oneworld and be able to earn EK miles... Somehow Interesting, I think EK would do much better (although they already do quite well) if they joined one of the alliances... why haven't they yet? They have World Class Status

That would be too great... Big grin I think the problem is somehow that "Miles can't be transferred like capital"  Wink/being sarcastic .... maybe we as customers should recommend that...

Dubai is strategically positioned such that they can fly almost anywhere in the world with A345 and they plan to serve as much point-to-point services as possible, with passengers changing plane in Dubai. With this sort of grand ambitions I don't think they need to join an alliance. It would benefit the alliance much more than it does to Emirates.

Check out their possible future routes with A345 :-
