Even though there are many charters from Beirut to the Red Sea resorts of Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh by Lotus Air, Luxor Air, Air Memphis and even Egyptair, how comes there are no scheduled links between the two places. Huge numbers of Lebanese tourists visit these places every year and their numbers are still on the increase. Hopefully BA, ToBEYwithMEA or anybody else might know?

Horus,

As you have put it. There are too many operators. Scheduled service is designed to serve Business ansd Leisure passengers.

Both destinations are strictly leisure. Most if not all people buy packages (hotel and Air) rather than "Air Only".

In general, if you want to see more scheduled flights between Arab cities, you need to see a more relaxed visa requirements. Then people can always decide to travel last minute or anytime they wish.

You could then use a CRJ700 to fly daily from BEY to ALY, Sharm, ALP....But there's no way you will see a daily A321 from BEY to Sharm....

I was not thinking of a daily service. Egyptair operates many scheduled services between Sharm El Sheikh to Middle Eastern and European destination, like JED, LHR. GVA, FRA, MUN, FCO, etc and vice versa many European and M.E's carriers operate flights to SSH. Frequencies on these route tend to be 2-4x weekly but flights tend to have very high load factors (therefore generating profits).

I think Saudi, Kuwait and Lebanese tourists make up the bulk of Arab tourists to the Red Sea.

Perhaps one day there will be. As Yegbey01 said, there are many charter operators that serve SSH and fill the market pretty well.

In the summer and winter, there is at least daily service and on some days more than one flights.

Perhaps one day though.....maybe menaJet?

Regards

BA

More than daily flights should easily warrant the launch of scheduled flights. Even though they do not target business travellers they will usually have +90% loadfactors. I somehow think Egyptair will enter this lucrative route before allowing another carrier operate on it-especially a non-Egyptian one. I think MEA would have a better chance of getting rights on the route before menajet.

What are flights like to Hurghada?

Horus,

There are many charters to Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada, Aswan, and Luxor on a number of carriers.

Do you have any info on charters between Beirut and the cities/resorts BA mentioned above?
