I had an opportunity to fly into DME last December. It is a lot better in terms of comfort and efficiency than SVO. Immigration and Customs took only about 10 min at DME while I have waited in upwards to 1 hour at SVO.
DME is a privately operated airport owned by the Eastline Group. Its very modern and connected to the city centre by rail. Its mostly Russian domestic and charters, but a lot of carriers fed up with the delays and inefficiencies of SVO are moving there. As mentioned, both BA and LX relocated as well as more recenlty Air Malta and Vietnam Airlines.
Not much in the way of amenities though. A few shops, and only a couple of restuarants (Sbarro pizza, and a cafe). The atmoshpere is a lot better than SVO. Its bright, open , airy, and welcoming. I have a feeling that as more leases end at SVO more airlines will be moving there.

My dad flew into DME a few years ago and said it was really nice, but pretty small...

Sure DME looks nice, but there are some reasons why I prefer using SVO over DME:
1. No airconditioing and it gets very hot especialy in the waiting halls
2. No lifts to second floor (just escalators that are impossible to use with luggage)
3. Way to small and over crowded
4. The nostalgia at SVO is awesome and as an enthusiast I like it
SVO is nice, sure the immigration can be long sometimes, but it depends on the time of day. DME can be bad too.

I know that Air Moldova operates its flights from Chisinau to Domodedovo Airport. They used to fly to Vnukovo until recently but switched to Domodedovo a few months ago. I am planning on flying them this summer so I'll have the chance to check out Domodedovo.

Domodedovo is indeed a palace in comparison to SVO. Flown many times into it on LX. SN Brussels recently announced service to DME as well. Everything about DME is easier...
