Why does Fedex use DFW when they have a hub at AFW? You think it would be cheaper to have one operation at AFW. They wouldn't have to pay rent at two airports. Does anybody know why?

Alliance is a long, long, long drive from the western reaches of the metro area. In the world of next day packages, 30 minutes extra on the ground will be a killer.

What is it with all the "is there a possibilty airline X will.." threads? The answer it'll is possible.

Does FedEx have any DFW-AFW flights or do the DFW flights fly to MEM?

DFW is in the heart of the metroplex. And the FedEx hub is adjacent to UPS, which works well competitively.

AFW is out in the country, half way between Fort Worth and Denton - about 35 miles from downtown Dallas.

Both AA and FedEx operate large maintenance operations at AFW.

Is Fedex's operation at AFW maintenance-only or does it handle freight as well?

AFW is Fedex's southwest hub.

Hello all,

Another question about AFW...on the average, how many FedEx flights arrive and depart in a 24 hour period?

AFW is a freight transit point, only a small percentage of packages (not even packages, usually only large freight goes to AFW) are actually offloaded at AFW. DFW is where all the packages are offloaded. By the way, packages aren't processed at DFW, they are sent by truck to various processing sites throughout the metroplex to be sorted and then sent by FedEx truck to your house/office.

Jim, AFW usually gets between 8-12 FedEx flights per day.
