As I fly on business with a 24 to 48 hour notice, I wonder if the Big Boyz need to adopt a new strategy. Last Week I flew from DFW to MEM via ATL on Airtran. The flight times sucked but my company liked the fare of $634 vs. $955 on AA and NW. The $634 got me confirmed biz class seats.

Wouldn't it be prudent for AA and others to match the low cost carrier's fares
on some routes on some flights? Wouldn't they want $634 vs. an empty seat? Just a thought...looking for your thoughts.

The legacy carriers already are forced to match fares on a certain number of coach seats. If they hold out for someone who isn't concerned about their budget, that's an extra $300 bucks they can make.

I will again voice my concern over AA's business plan that assumes a 30% revenue premium over the LCC's. If... I mean, WHEN the LCC's enter the Trans-Atlantic market, things will get tough in DFW.

At least now I can watch dispassionately from the sidelines. Big grin TC
