THE A340-600 came late at 6:45 PM today, It was the first flight for the VS -600 to Miami. It was received by water trucks although its not the first time an A340-600 comes to Miami, Iberia brings it lately during the night.
It is expected for VS to operate the A340-600 to Miami.

The registration was G-VSHY and it did indeed arrive in MIA late, It landed into LHR late too, flew straight over my head this morning  Big thumbs up. Can't remember what time it was (no watch) but it certainly wasn't 07:55 when it usually arrives.

I saw it landing, by the chance I was driving near the airport, twice the surprise, First the Virgin flight from London was really late, second it was a A-340-600!!!! I flew the Iberia one from MIA to MAD a couple of months ago, great bird to fly with!!!

I was planning to photograph it, but infortunatley, there is not enough light at that time. Also, I am planning a summer trip to England....is VS expected to use the A346 in the summertime? If so, that is the carrier I am selecting...

VS are currently flying the A340-600s to just Washington (in the USA) on a regular basis. Not quite sure whether Miami is now a A346 regular or it was just a one off, but the delay on it would tell me that it would be a one off because there may have been a fault with the aircraft that was to fly it.

I can't remember off the top of my head but I think the 600's are supposed to be scheduled on some mid-week services from about May onwards? The w/e flts will still be 744. It was probably a tech 343 that meant a 346 was substituted, but i'm not at work so i can't check.

The 600's are also doing some New York flts, but again I can't check it and it changes so often that if the info is more than a week old then it's probably wrong anyway!!

Cheers

I was down at MIA when it landed and as Ryan said it was too dark for a good shot. I had my camera with me and took this picture for the hell of it. For anyone interested here it is.

G-VSHY landing rwy 9R approx 18:40 on March 19, 2004.

Hey guys! I am so exited to know that VS is doing 600 to MIA. I took one of the ex Alitalia 747 to Gatwick two years ago. I hope that maybe VS will resume their twice daily to Miami...

Ok I've checked: the 346 on 19th operated instead of a 744 due to an a/c having to be sent to MAN to cover for a Classic on the VS75 MAN-MCO service.

Planned 346 services to MIA are currently due to begin on 4th May. Tue/Wed/Thur flts will be 346, the rest will be 744.

Cheers
