I would love to get anyone's opinion on which economy flight to Rome in June would be best. Do I go EWR via Continental or Alitalia? Or JFK via Delta, American or Alitalia? I am very close to EWR but the thought of 8+ hours cramped on a Continental flight frightens me.

Fly the airline that has service on the 777's . I believe that Delta and CO operates B777's to CO / LIRF), Italy">FCO. That way you will have your own PTV. I think Alitalia operates B767's , and I am not to fond of their service, and reliability. Last time I flew them they had a strike, and I was forced to re-route to JFK instead of ATL. I came into CO / KMCO), USA - Florida">MCO almost 5 hrs behind schedule.

Ya should either take AZ from JFk cuZ its a 772 or take the extra drive down to PHL and fly US on the A330 flt. 2. I took US 2 and 3 (my tr is under usair320)PHL-FCO-PHL. A great flight OK food nice F/A's and not to mention avod PTV's. Or otherwise try DL from JFK.

The only airline with a 777 service to Rome from the USA is Alitalia, from JFK and Newark (I assum, you are trying to go from the NY area). Delta flies the 767-300, Continental the 767-400, and American has a seasonal nonstop from JFK on a two-class 767-300.
Personally, I would avoid AZ. The service is surly at best and unreliable. The airline is going through a painful reorganization and staff strikes and work actions are common. The cabin crew are professional but rude and disinterested. The 777's are supposedly lovely, but not worth the headache factor.
I'd go with either Continental from Newark or US Airways from Philadelphia, which flies the A330 on the route.

In my bias opinion. I would take NWA via DTW and fly the new A330-300 with the AVOD IFE system. But that is just my opinion. Whom ever you fly enjoy your flight and have a great time in CO / LIRF), Italy">FCO. But remember this. NW DL and CO all offer the option of collecting miles on each other.
