I was at LAX today and stumbled on the LAX Flight Attendant schedules for April and it just happened to be open to this odd-ball flight. On 31Apr04 scheduling has a trip on a 752 LAX-ACA and back. At first I didn't recognize the city code ACA and after I found out that it was Cancun I started to get excited! This trip is only operating one day so it's really peculiar.
It couldn't be a charter flight because those aren't printed (I'm like 98% sure on this). Are we possibly doing a test run for this route? Possibly TED someday doing the LAX-ACA run? Are we going to give AS a little run for their money?
Any details out there on this?
The debate continues... Starwood or Hyatt... which is better

UAL used to serve LAX/ACA - Acapulco not Cancun - some years ago as a seasonal service only.
They did quite well in the winter, but loads in to/out of ACA are terrible in the summer. Plus, in those days, Delta used to have year round service, so the locals prefered them. UAL dropped the service.
I'd be slightly surprised to see them start it again, given Alaska's hold on that market, but hey, anything's possible.
Then again, as Dutchjey notes, there are only 30 days in April.
