In recent press releases Virgin has stated that it will increase flights to Shanghai Pudong under a new agreement with the Chinese government....any idea what this increase will be?? A daily flight perhaps?

According to on-line schedules VS's schedules on the LHR-PVG-LHR route (VS250) will go up from 4x weekly to 5x weekly using A343s. I think this is more due to the fact China Eastern will start flying on the route soon on a 3x weekly basis with A346s (MU552). VS probably had to increase frequecny ahead of this competition to attract premium passengers with their more flexible schedule. I hope it works, only time will tell

The PVG route has pretty low passenger numbers for most of the year, but boy does it get a lot of freight.
They are basically using that A346 as a freighter service with the added advantage of being able to carry passengers, as opposed to the other way round that is usually the norm for a passenger airline !!!.
