I'd like to know if we can elect the "Worst Major Airport" ?

Does anyone want to participate ?

First vote - GIG (Rio de Janeiro)

What do you mean by "worst"? This sound threateningly like a "suggest deletion"-topic....

I mean simply THE WORST

The busiest for pax;
The busiest for planes;
The ugliest;
The smaller;
etc.

This is an easy question -- MIA.

In fact, AA has the worst hub facilities (ORD, STL, DFW, MIA and SJU) of any major USA-based airline.

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY, THE WORST MAJOR AIRPORT WAS PROBABLY THE OLD ATHENS INTNL AIRPORT(ELLINIKON) IN ATHENS GREECE. THIS WAS THE LEAST PASSENGER FRIENDLY OF ALL AIRPORTS I HAVE TRAVELLED THROUGH.

My vote goes to NRT! I have connect twice through that disaster! Not enough seats. Scary food outlets at high prices. NO ROOM for y class pax. Two hour plus waits for customs. If I have to connect in Asia ICN is the ONLY way to connect. Beautiful new facilities with lots of room and good food options.

the worst ive been through is either LHR or FCO.LHR is very big,with lots of aircraft and airlines,but the problem is getting where you need to go.FCO is just plain confusing.I could not go anywhere.then theres security!there were several metal detectors,and 20 lines of hundreds of people behind it.Both are horribly confusing.

I'll agree with one of Espion007's nominations - LHR (which, for me, is the overall winner in this category).

In South America, I'd nominate GRU, I actually like GIG... in North America I'd probably say either MIA or ATL, but it really would be a difficult choice... in Asia, I'd say that BKK takes the cake...

Happy contrails,
Frank

IAD can be pretty hard to work through, it is not exactly chaotic, but just a load of work with the shuttles and the connections and that stuff...

LHR...well...pretty...i dunno...not too good experience, but to be honest, i was there after a 24hrs trip, 5 more to go, 3 hrs waiting time...not the best conditions...i would like to give it a new chance...will do soon...

DFW is by far the absolute worst. Not only is the airport a disaster to get around, it is just about all AA. It is almost as if AA designed their livery to blend in with the airport.

For those who complain about MIA, I live in the FLL area, and on occasion do fly out of MIA. At least out of MIA, you see a great variety of aircraft.

My vote is Boston!!

Not just the airport itself, it's having to pay a "turnpike" fee when taking a cab even if one does not take the MassPike

Miami, Miami, Miami......although the terminal for Delta and USAirways is nice and usually quiet (simply becuase it is at the far end of the airport), the rest of the airport is pure chaos and hassle. Not a great place to either begin or end a trip.

DFW is the worst airport in the U. S. of A. The entire premise of the semi-circle terminal design is flawed. The locals wanted to drive right up to the departure gate. Great idea until the return flight docks at the opposite end of the horseshoe. Pity the poor connecting passengers who may have to trek across a highway if an Eagle jet is involved.

The spread out eateries make for slim pickings if you're in a hurry and want something close to the gate.

The men's rooms resemble some old filthy gas station on its best day.

Waiting for a gate upon arrival is normal AA procedure. One time, we waited over 1 hour when gates were clearly available.

The new people mover and international terminal may be just enough to move DFW off the bottom of my list.

25 Brons2 : I think SFO is the worst, although I have not been back since WN dropped service and they were remodeling, maybe it improved. I don't understand all t
26 SHUPirate1 : I'm surprised that LGA hasn't been mentioned...it's gotten better, when the FAA decided to pull the slot restrictions on the airport in the summer of
27 Ckfred : I like ORD, but then I live 30 minutes away. I like airports that are big, sprawling, and congested with people. STL is a pain if one has to hoof betw
28 Hailstone : FRA is an ongoing construction site since it opened it's now terminal one in the 70's....... LHR is not exactly fun either with 'bussing' from one ter
29 MoodyBlues : Funny that so many people mentioned MIA, as my whole family hates that airport. I knew there was a reason we drive to MCO from PBI to fly to England (

34 TransIsland : And the loser is.... MIA.

38 Theflcowboy : ATL sucks. Never out on time. Pull tight connections. Usually have to go from D to T terminal. I try to avoid ATL at all costs.
39 Pilatusguy : Defenately CDG, followed by LHR
40 Jetblue15 : LGA gets my vote at least for major domestic. You just gotta love being 15th in line for take off and having to wait 45mins on the taxiway.
41 Thestooges : My vote would be BOM. Most other airports I cant complain about. Definitely the seediest run down airport I've been in, but then hey, it was preparing
42 Pmanchuk : My vote (not surprising) is MIA... old and run down facilities, very poor layout, lack of airconditionin in customs areas, and RUDE RUDE staff. When I
43 Dantiger : Oh definitely LHR. It is like Henry IIX lopping of a head.
44 XJRamper : im surprised that ATL isnt posted. If your gate changes, you have 5 concourses to choose from, it is the busiest of all of the airports I have visited
45 Post contains images UN_b732 : JFK is horrible! Almost all terminals. JFK No Way! SVO isn't good also. -UN
46 CRFLY : Miami, Miami, Miami!!! Followed by Boston Logan, Rome Fiumicino, Sao paulo Guarulhos and NYC's Laguardia... Can we just delete them and rebuilt them??
47 Aeroflot777 : The absolute worst is SVO. No one can beat that!!!!!!!!
48 Gilesdavies : LAX without a doubt. The staff there seem to have an attitude problem. The queues go on forever, and you queue outside of the terminal by drop off off
49 Freon : I'm voting on ATL this time. I think it's about the worst all-around. OT: My favorite airports are ORD and DAY, in that order.
50 Post contains images 7E72004 : In my opinion, i think indianapolis is. I live in Indy and it is cramped, not a whole lot appealing. The good thing is the new midfield terminal is un
51 Post contains images Slider : I can't believe MEX hasn't been cited yet. I'll vote MEX... horrid. Hard to argue with many of the above ones though, notably MIA, BOS, and FCO. Haven
52 Flyboy7974 : within the u.s., although not a major intl player, i have to say mci. terminals and gate areas are horrible, the vendors in the airport are horrible.
53 N323er : EWR is the worst in my opinion RYAN AIRTRAN(BWIOPS)
54 ASTROJET707 : DFW!!! The semicircle terminals and the old and new rail system...architects thought they were building Texas-Disney. Awful, especially if you fly AA
55 Mpoellot : The new terminal 2 at MUC is bad --- expect long walks from the gates to the exit. DFW is the worst airport as I see it.
56 ZASpringboks : Just got back from South Africa and I experienced two of the worst airports I ever encountered. JNB Ummmm.....where are the gate areas? How about some
57 COAB767 : Another airport I think sucks is Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
58 Ryanair!!! : Hmm... here goes my vote: Asia - Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (HLP) is in shambles. Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) needs a facelift.... Bangkok Don Mua
59 Leneld : I would have to go with New Delhi International airport. It looks and smells like a giant toilet. On the west coast Seattle by far is the ugliest. Sea
60 Plaaneboy : DFW - 1) Poor hub design using one sided, semi-circle terminals making most connections inconvenient. 2) It's ugly. The most depressing color and desi
61 Asterix : Most definitely KMIA. It's a disgusting nightmare
62 7E72004 : I would also have to say that the old MDW was the worst ever! But of course that is not the case anymore...except the security lines!
63 RG777 : OK Folks !!!!! ... And the winner is Miami International Airport !!!!! I am sure we all know the reasons. Many thanks for the votes. I do appreciate.
64 7E72004 : RyanAir-The new terminal in DTW is VERY nice...nothing like the old one. There are only 3 concourses left of the old terminal that house USAIrways, de
