Hey
I just been to LHR the other day, and i was AMAZED at the sheer percentage of airbuses which were flying. Mainly 320 family but some 340s. In the space of 3 hours I would say that a good 80-90% of the aircraft were Airbusses, and I only saw 3 737s which is very starnge, at most airports in the UK the Jets are 737s. It really was like an owners convention. Is this because the 737s are mainly used for LCCs, and majors are buying Airbusses for their long term efficiency, whereas some LCCs may not have the capital to buy the new planes? This is in direct contrast to when i was in LHR about 7 years ago, when I was quite surprised at seeing an Airbus-we never really had them in NCL, and especially not with a scheduled airline

I agree that the A320 family represents largely the majorirty of short/medium haul a/c at LHR but the B747/B777/B767 are much more numerous that the A340/A330...
