This has already been discussed in other threads. Please do a search using key words like Air France, new, cabins, business class etc.

There are only 2 acutally in service: 1 A340 on the CDG-EWR-CDG route
and 1 A330 on the CDG-PHL-CDG route (it was doing BKO).

The latest 330 F-GZCN was delivered yesterday, I think, and is also fitted with the new cabins.

The 14th A332 (F-GZCN) has just joined the fleet and is equipped with the new seats configuration.

The new B773ER will join the fleet in April and will start operating AF006/007 CDG-JFK-JFK from May 10th to June 13th. Then hey it will operate the CDG-NRT route (AF276/275 & AF278/277).
All the new B773ER will be of course fitted with the new seats.

No B772ER or B744 have been reconfigured yet, as the priority is given to the A343 and A332.

FLYSSC

Do the 'older' A332s have these new Business class seats, or will they be refitted at a later date?

Only 2 A332, including the 14th aircraft received yesturday, are fitted with the new Business class. These a/c are flying to BKO and now PHL. The other 12 a/c will be modified, along with the A343, B744, B772ER, during the next months. All the fleet is said to be modified by the end of 2005/Early 2006.

How will they modify 12 A332s over the next few month without loosing alot of flying hours while they are on the ground being upgraded. Shouldn't they wait until the next major overhaul, when the aircraft are being maintained - sort of hit two birds with one stone.

you got a point there horus!

but thats not my poblem right???

i want the new seats! they have saved tons of money for almost 10 years by not installing any new seats...

their old business is so worn out that the shape of the cushion of your seat is pre-shaped. it has been like that since a long time already.

i saw that too for their first class

If you don't like reading the same subject matter again, here's an idea DON'T READ IT. What are you the thread police? Some of us don't live on airliners and on occasion might like a fresh perspective anyway.

Horus,

Air France has to reconfigure 73 Long-Haul a/c : 12 A332, 21 A343, 25 B772ER, and 15 B744.
Grounding an a/c only for the reconfiguration is out of question. In the same time, this reconfiguration can't take too long and can't be done on 3 or 4 years ! and the delay given by AF (end 2005/2006) is already quite long, but the a/c will be reconfigured during maintenance checks, so that no flight will have to be cancelled because no aircraft is available.

That's why also the priority is given to the A343 & A332 as these a/c type will receive the new concept of 2 classes : Business/Class and use on specific markets. Then the B744 (by next autumn) will be fitted with the new seats (and 2 classes also) and used on the "Sun/leisure destinations" market, when the B773ER will join the fleet and replace them on the "traditional" destinations (LAX, NRT, JFK etc... )

Its about time for AF! The only time Ive flown AF was JFK - CDG on a 777. It was a DL codeshare in which I had just flown LAX - JFK on a DL 763 in BizE. I was amazed at how much more comfortable the BizE seats were.

I couldn´t agree more with you, BGR1962.

It would be interesting to hear of someone who has tried AF´s and LH´s new C-Class seat anytime soon.
