It is now confirmed by several newspapers and the Super Constellation Flyers Associaton (www.superconstellation.ch) that the Super Constellation N73544, one of the last three flyable Super Connies worldwide, will be transfered to its new homebase Basle, Switzerland in May.
The plane will leave Camarillo/ California on the 26th of April and will stop in Omaha/ Nebraska, Manchester/ New Hampshire,Stephenville/Newfoundland, Keflavik/Iceland, Prestwick/Scotland and Paris/Le Bourget.
The Super Constellation will land in Basle on May 8th and will be welcomed by (hopefully) thousands of aviation enthusiasts from all over the world. A big party will be organized.
Years ago, SCFA, a group consisting of aviation enthusiasts, former airline owners and employees, dreamers, mechanics and others, began to realize their dream.
They have found a Super Constellation in the Dominican Republic (N105CF) and invested many hours and lot of money. They have brought the Connie back to the skies but their dreams came to an end when they did not get the permission for passenger flights.
Now they have found N73544 and their effort was succesful.
BTW, the plane will also visit Berne, Switzerland on June 26 and 27. Other places in Europe will follow soon.

I think finnally I'll have my day to see this beauty!!!! I'll be in Switzerland from the 2nd. September until the 12th. so I will arrange sometime to see it. I remember in 1999 there was an Air Show in Bern and I had the chance to see one of the Air Classic C-47 and also a JU52 "Milka" livery, do you know if this year it will be a show there? Maybe the Super Constellation will come there!
regards and that's indeed great news!

@IwantaBBJ: As far as I know they have all permissions and negociations with the former Connie's owner were succesful...let's keep the fingers crossed.
@CV990: The delivery date and the visit to Berne are the only ones confirmed so far. Don't know if there is an airshow on June 26 and June 27 in Berne but I guess this is why the Connie is in Berne on these days...

if it goes like the delivery to Lelystad for the Dutch Connie, it will be delayed a lot.
That one is still in Amsterdam under repair, should have been delivered half a year ago after nearly a year of delays.

Thanks for your information. I went to the photo-engine in Airliners.net and I saw the airplane. I was very surprised and at the same really freak-out. If you look to the first photo you see that it was taken at LAX on the 17th. December 2003, I flew from LAX to ZRH with SWISS on the 15th.!!!! I missed that plane for TWO DAYS!!!! That's truly unfair!!!!
