Anyone know of any grass fields or small small airports with a control tower? If so how much traffic. Or how about a grass field with an approach?

When I was driving through Panama, I went by an airstrip in Santiago, which had a stand that resembled an open air tower. It was fun.

Keep on truckin'...

Difficult question - of course there are many airports with towers and grass runways (not necessarily small ones though ex: phoenix Regional Airport) and not even "all" grass. But my hometown airport controls a grass runway airport, needless to say it's not the same airport, it's just within our class D airspace (KCNW controls Wings for Christ, a tiny grass strip just across the road from KCNW roughly 3-5 ops a day?). That's the best I can come up with aside from good old Meigs(RIP). A grass field with an approach, you'd think if they can afford even an oldschool NDB that they could pave the runway. For sure in another country, such as Honduras or some Latin American destination judging by their reputations...too tough of a topic Smile

KPAO, Palo Alto, California, with one asphalt runway spanning an IMPRESSIVE 2443 ft., has a control tower according to the West A/FD diagram...this is the smallest Ive seen...from the looks of Airnav its a busy little airport though...
