Since people were talking about the shortest widebody flight, what's the shortest 747 flight? Probably in Japan or elsewhere in Asia, I would guess.

The amount of double posts is getting silly. This topic comes up time and time again!!

I don't know if this is the shortest; from HNL-KOA. Only a few minutes in flight, sometimes operated by a B747 or DC-10 of JL.

I don't know which is worse. That the same topics keep coming up, or people keep answering them.

The shortest I flew my self might have been:
HND-KIX on a JAL 743
HKG-TPE on a CI 742 (yes, THE CI 742)

one of the shortest regular 747 routes might have been GVA-ZRH vv. operated by Swissair. The flight took something like 25-35 min.

Abu Dhabi-Dubai and vice versa on LH, I understand they occasionally use the 744 on that route, shouldn't be more than 20 minutes (I flew it on A340)

I know it's only VfB but I like it!

I was in Sharm El Sheik and saw a MSR B743 from Cairo...

Also I have flown from Phuket to Bangkok in a B744 and I have heard that they fly to Chiang Mai at times with that type...

Boaz...

But what about the KLM route with a 67 from AMS-LHR!
And BAW's 67 flight from LHR-BRU...

Boaz...

I thought this subject had been done to death.

The last time it was discussed it was the daily BA 744 which operates BAH-DOH-BAH which I think is 67 miles each way.

I think it was back in 1999 but a friend of mine flew a 747 from LAX to SFO on UA. There were a bunch of cancelled Shuttle flights and they consolidated them into one bigger plane. He said the seat in row 2 was great and the cocktails were flowing freely  Smile

I'm no expert but I do know that the special high-density intra-Japan flights operated by JAL and ANA using Boeing 747SR-100s and 747-400Ds (Domestic) are amongst the shortest flights usually lasting 40 minutes or less.

I flew Swissair from ZRH to GVA, and then on to JFK, in August 1982. The flight from ZRH to GVA was operated with a 747-200. The flight was just 29 minutes from take off to touch down. We stayed on the aircraft and the flight continued to JFK. This was SR 110 (ZRH-GVA-JFK).
