I plan to travel from NRT to LHR. My first option was to take BA but my agent told me that I will save a lot of money if I took JL. I was wondering if any one tried JAL 744 First Class. How do they compare to BA?

Any help will be appreciated.

Well I will base my decisions on the following factors --
1. Does earning miles matter to you? If you are getting miles on the BA program, it will be nice to keep that going; but if you don't care, JAL mileage bank is not too bad, especially after the last round of devaluation by BA EC.

2. I think JAL service is comparable, if not better than British Airways. On the NRT-LHR flight, you get the brand new solo suites up front, which is much nicer than BA 'dated' suites. Food wise... JL has a nice Japanese selection but a nice western menu as well.

3. JAL considered LHR-NRT as one of its top routes, so service will be the top notch. Give it a try!

Carfield,

Thanks a lot for the info.

My trip will start in DXB on EK to KIX. By using JAL I might get mileage on my EK card. I will check that with the agent.

My concern was regarding the seat. I have tried BA First Class and it was an excellent product. But as you said, it is old now. I haven't seen JAL new suits yet. I will check their website and look for it. I'm also a pit iffy when it comes to food. I don't eat Sushi so I hope they have other selections.

Thanks again.
