Do airline managers have to get Medicals and such? I don't think so and I can't find a logical reason why, just curious!

Airline managers medical... not necessarily... but.

To be a director of operations, you must have (or have held) a captain qualification.
So if you maintain that licence valid, you must pass a medical.
Chief pilots as well, if they continue to fly planes, other than their desks.
Other that, no medical for anyone else.

I seriously doubt it. Besides Herb at Southwest could have never passed it.

Since airline management's personal health isn't critical to passenger safety, I don't think the FAA has any jurisdiction.

Thought so, thanks guys. What's so critical about Herbs health? I was unaware of this.

Because Herb is well known for drinking Wild Turkey and being a chain smoker.

I realize that you're new to A.net (welcome!) but just because Herb drinks (on occasion) and smokes (all the time), that means the -other- 30,000 SWA employees drink/smoke, or otherwise run an airline that people shouldn't fly?

That's about like me saying that -all- 13-15 year-old A.net posters are idiots because -one- 13-15 year-old made a ridiculous statement.

I trust you can see that BOTH statements would be inaccurate...

Toodles...
