Go with Delta. I heard America West is cutting back first class service. By the way where are you connecting thru?

Without a doubt pick the DL first class. I've flown both, and HP's FC is just a larger seat than coach. On a flight from SEA-PHX on HP I flew FC and there was no meal or snack served the entire flight. I like HP generally, but if you are spending the extra $ go with DL.

Neither is very good in my opinion - one thing is sure, neither HP or DL will win any awards for their domestic first class service. A lot has to do with the aircraft type and the duration of the flight: I think that HP only serves meals on flights longer than 3 hours, otherwise its just drinks and those are out of plastic cups.....certainly not the type of service one expects in F. DL's 757s are rather comfortable up front (certainly better than the F cabin on the domestic 763 and far better than the awful F accommodation on the 764) and meal service is generally available on flights longer than 2 hours (beware, meals and snacks are only served at designated meal times) but lately, DL is very big on cold offerings such as cold chicken and pasta - not gourmet.

The good news is that regardless of which airline you fly with, F is always nicer than Y!

disagree, go with america west out of bwi. all 3 flights to phx and the early morning to las will offer a choice of two cold meals in first, the night flight to las offers no meal service. both hp a320 and b757 a/c are entertainment equipped. i have seen pictures of their first class service from atl to the west coast, and it was a nightmare. plus, i would rather fly with an hp f/a over delta anytime.

I've flown both in FC..not on those routes exactly though. Delta is a wonderful airline and I was very happy with the service. However there really wasn't any difference in the food and amenities. I'm sure DL will be more money unless they offer a flat rate upgrade program like HP does. You can now buy the upgrade 30 hours before departure....it used to be only within 4 hours of departure and at the airport only. On long flights it's a pretty good deal.
