Hi everyone I am new on here. I was wondering if any SWA employees on here know what airplanes I will be flying on during my upcoming trip. Any special paint schemes? New interior? I don't want to start a I love, I hate Southwest thread but I will say that the two times I have flown SWA I have had a good trip. Plus you can't beat the two week in advance fare of $226.80 w/taxes ABQ-PDX r/t.

April 22
WN 1042 ABQ-SLC 1835 2010
WN 166 SLC-PDX 2055 2145

April 25
WN 2420 PDX-ABQ 1320 1655
(last time I flew this flight over Thanksgiving it was a 73G in the old style)

Klm-md11 that was not a helpful comment, clearly, as I said I have flown Southwest before and said that last flight was a 73G. I meant will I be on one with new colors, new interior, special paint scheme?

well, then you could have expected an answer like mine...with a question like that!

anyway...who cares what plane you're gonna be in, as long as you're in it and it will bring you from A to B in one piece...preferably on time

very true, but I am just curious, I haven't flown through SLC on them, maybe a better question will be what is the concourse Southwest uses at SLC like, any places to grab a quick bite to eat?

Airlines don't schedule specific airplanes for flights nearly a month in advance.

Oy, you people are really nuts. Next time yer gonna tell me you named each plane on the fleet and know exactly what plane is it by looking at the soiled spots in the interiors.... Big grin

I can understand if it's a 737 vs 767 etc.

So what ya gonna do if they didn't schedule your fav plane, change your itinerary?

Hello,

I work at BNA. Your aircraft will be named Bob. Try to avoid seat 11b, the recline mechanism is broken and 3 days before your date to fly, a child will vomit into the seat. The attendant will fail to clean up the mess completely.

Your Captain will also be named Bob (what a coincidence).

Have a nice flight and DO NOT eat that burrito the night before.

Matt,

In answer to your original question, it's too soon to tell. Aircraft assignments to specific "lines" or "patterns" of flying are usually only done 2-3 days in advance, and frequently changed (even up until departure time) due to variables such as fleet maintenance status, weather, and others. As such, it's impossible to predict (with any accuracy) what specific aircraft you'll have this far out. About the only thing I can tell you absolutely is that you won't be on a 737-200. There are only 20 left in the fleet, and they're pretty much kept within the central time zone.

If you want to email me the night before, I'll give you a specific tail number, but keep in mind it could change...

Case in point. Last April I was on a WN (Yes "WN" is the two-letter code for Southwest, not "SWA") flight MCO-ALB. Scheduled equipment was a 737-7h4, bu a 737-3h4 was used for that flight.

Thank you very much OPNLguy your answer was very helpful. I may take you up on emailing you the night before. Yeah, I haven't seen the -200 too much even here in ABQ.

Some do. Some do it up to 6 weeks in advance, some do it only 2 days in advance. The median seems to be about 4 or 5 days.

As far as eating in SLC, there is a City Deli (a common sandwich shop) in our part of the terminal that's not too bad.

I think you may have some more choices if you go up the escalators towards security but I can't remember specifically what they are.

I think for both of those flights you will fly my favorite the 737-300 or maybe the 500 or 600 what everone SWA has. Also, you will have the new interior, but the livery is a different story. Well, have a great SWA flight.

As far as SLC food:
Anything near WN gates at that time of day is probably all closed up already, seems folks there do not believe in eating after 8pm. If you head towards main Terminal 1 ticketing area, as you descend escalators if you bear a right before exiting sterile area, there is a food court with Burger King, City Deli, Pizza Hut Express, Starbucks, and I think a CinnaBon as well. Seating area is good place to watch pax coming thru security.I would say walking time from say B13 to food area is 5-8 min.

The end of the B concourse we use is ground level with jetways. If you are familiar with "Airport '75", it is area opposite of the Frontier Convair 580 seen sitting at SLC.

But seeing as you have only 45 minutes between flights (and plane for 1042 comes into ABQ from DAL, it is usually a bit behind sched.) there won't be too much time to do a lot.

Hope you have an enjoyable time.

Unattended bag,
I will laugh so hard if my captain is named Bob, and I won't sit in 11B, thanks. That made me laugh!

Sprxflyswa,
Yeah, I have the same problem at PDX everything in the C concourse closes around 8PM. As far as the plane coming from DAL what flight # is that? Do you know? Last time I was at the Sunport (ABQ) I saw one of their flights to DAL was delayed. As WN has a fairly large operation at ABQ do you think they may swap A/C making my first question, as I know realize, totally pointless?

I did some checking (based on today's operation...)

>>>April 22
>>>WN 1042 ABQ-SLC 1835 2010
>>>WN 166 SLC-PDX 2055 2145

Both flights are on scheduled 737-300 lines...

>>>April 25
WN 2420 PDX-ABQ 1320 1655

This flight is on a scheduled 737-700 line...

Still can't tell specific tail numbers (and thus special paint schemes, interiors, winglets, etc.,) but at least you'll have a rough idea...

Thanks OPNL guy you and sprxflyswa seem to be the inside people on this. When I flew ABQ-PDX and back over Thanksgiving I had the nonstop both ways and both were the -700 but were the old style with old interior and no winglets, a little disappointed about that but the flights were close to on time so I can't complain.

Can you confirm what Sprxflyswa said about #1042 being scheduled to come in from DAL?

Also, how is the ABQ-PDX nonstop doing load wise? When I flew over Thanksgiving the flights weren't full which was odd considering it was a holiday. I believe 108 out of 137 on the ABQ-PDX flight. I think it is great that WN provides a nonstop in that market. Very convenient for me at least. Would like to see it do well.

When I fly to PHX I typically have to take that long walk from security to gates B13 to B18, and while there is a Pizza Hut near the gates along with a bar and a bookstore, yes, they are closed at the hours I tend to fly (the late 10 PM flight or the early 7 AM flight to PHX). I like the Delta terminal better, more variety of things and food.

Its not a gaurantee that he will have the new interior on his flights. I was on a WN 737-300 a couple of weeks ago from PHX-MCI, old paint scheme, old interior. Then from MCI-PHX I had old paint scheme, new interior.. (very nice interior btw....)
