So far the training in Houston has been pretty uneventful. Most of what I've been learning is specs. and rules & regulations. But I did learn and see some interesting things while there...actually I have to go back in 2 hours ;-).
According to my instructor, as of March 1st, ALL Continental 737-100 and -200 aircraft have been grounded and sent to the boneyard. While looking through the scheduling and availability computer I did not see 1 old 737 where I know they were on these routes a couple of months ago.
I also saw an Antonov-124 while there. It was there from Tuesday thru Friday. It may still be there if anyone lives near IAH and wants to check it out. I believe it was bringing in construction equipment.
Also, I have access to the company store. They have many models of Continental and Continental Express aircraft. These models are the plastic type which snap together and attach to a base which holds it up, like its flying. Two interesting aircraft were a Continental 767-300 and a PeoplExpress 747-100. I'm not sure if the PeoplExpress is rare or not, but, the box looked pretty old. There were two left on Friday, so if anyone wants the other one let me know by 4:45 et today (Sunday). Otherwise I can't get it for you for 2 weeks.
