UA Applies For DEN-PVR

In response to Allegiant and Champion challenging its app for DEN-CUN, UA has now applied for DEN-PVR authority as a competing proposal to Champion's DEN-PVR application.

UA is also asking that the DOT combine the DEN-CUN and DEN-PVR applications into 1 case with the current applicants and any additional airlines making proposals. They ask that the DOT then select the best overall app.

Both of these routes are currently served by F9, which means only 1 additional carrier may be selected on each.

I forgot to mention that the DEN-PVR application specifically says that it would be a TED route. So that confirms all the rumors about TED to Mexico.

Also here is the link to the full application. The above link is only a response to Champion and Allegiant.

Too bad it only became a good idea after F9 tried it successfully. I never understood why UA didn't open Mexico service from DEN years ago.

Maybe UA was more concerned with routes to other regions and thought it could rely on MX forever.

Tourist destinations they would do well on. Inland destinations that are not touristy, like MTY, would not work well for them, IMO.

Mexicana and Alaska Airlines have the SFO-Mexico market very well covered. I would not be surprised to maybe see SFO-PVR/CUN or something from UA, but not much more.
