Emirates today (8th April) held a recruitment fair at Buenos Aires's Abasto Hotel, looking to recruit Cabin Crew. I've heard they'll also be recruiting in Caracas & Rio. Anyone know someone who applied from these countries? Gives a whole new meaning to the word 'International'!

regards

Maybe because the state of the economy in Argentina at the moment. It is
more economical to hire the young ladies there rather than from the U.K.?

Warren, this airline seems to recruit from just about every country you can think of - just take a look at their recruitment website emiratesgroupcareers.com, follow the links to Cabin Crew recruitment.

I think it's to do with having as international a representation as possible aboard - I think it's a nice touch.

According to Brazilian press, Emirates will start flying to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires in the begining of 2005. It will be a non-stop flight (I wonder what aircraft they are going to use: DXB-GIG 6417nm/11884Km - A345? Confused).
They have already hired Brazilian crew staff for working in the route.
Some in other posts have said that EK had considered to reach Buenos Aires from their Auckland flight (which sounds nonsense)...

OMG..they are recruiting people from everywhere! Also here in Thailand!  Smile

EK will just get stronger and stronger...though their F/As are not working with a good attitude...I don't know why. Most pax can feel that!

Let's just blame it on yields.

Nethkt, each airline has crew better than others. Personally, I never had to complain about their service, and in fact their sevice makes EK on of my favorite airline.
About their recruitement, it is true that they try to have F/As from the countries they serve , because not all the pax speak English or Arabic

Agree with Teva - it's nice when you hear your mothers tongue on board of a plane, not only english.
So that's kind of service and it honors passengers from destinations they fly.

Hi, DoorsToManual! How are you?
I have just read your add saying that Emirates is hiring crew in BUE. Do you know if they will be interviewing financial / administration staff as well?
Thanks!!

I suppose it is also to do with the fact that there are many people of Arab origin who live in Argentina. In fact there almost 4 million, most are originally from Syria and Lebanon.

Hello Argentina.

I'm fine thanks, enjoying a vacation at the moment. I think the recruitment in BA was for Cabin Crew only - for office-based activites, you'd probably have to apply via their careers website. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Horus; can't say for sure whether there are many people of Middle Eastern origin in Argentina; certainly a previous president (Carlos Menem) had roots in this region. I know for a fact that there are many Lebanese in Brazil; apart from this, I'm not 100% sure.

regards

DoorsToManual, Yes it is true that there are upto 8 million Lebanese living in Brazil, and around 3-4 million Syrians/Lebanese in Argentina who migrated there at the start of the last century.
