Good news for Airbus. Were these aircraft part of an earlier contract agreed with the CAAC, or are they new orders?

What surprises me the most is the fact that they chose CFM56 engines, seeing as how the current fleet has V2500 engines...

It is not part of the CAAC deal, but it was first revealed when they announced their intent to order the 332 sometimes last year.

The CAAC deal counted for 30 Airbus aircraft, the intention to purchase those 21 were first revealed in Januari 2004, when the Chinese president visited France.

Would be nice to see an anouncement for the A380 from a Chinese airline.

Good news for Airbus. Nice to see Q2 going a bit better than Q2 on the orders front.
