EasyJet 742?

I was reading in the April issue of Airliner World magazine and I was quite suprised to find a picture of a 742 in easyjet colors with an Italian registration of I-GOTU! Since when did easyJet have a 742? I also heard that they plan to get some more 747's? Would that be a good idea? And is this an April Fools joke from the magazine?

Simon your getting confused, easyjets order of A380's will be here by 2034 so what they are doing is leasing all the old 747's mainly 100 and 200 series and using them on new high density routes such as Liverpool-Isle of man and luton-Sarejevo until the a380s can take over the route.

I thought that they were using the 742's from SEN to STN? There is a lot of demand on that route.

My sources are very accurate you know!

Those A380's on order, will do wonders for Easy Jet.

I heard a rumour that it will be 20 abreast seating? Is this true?

Also, to save money and crew training - theyve decided not to install the standard airbus glass cockpit, so they've asked a third party to install the more traditional 733 flightdeck into the A380, therefore the crew will not need any more training to fly this beast!

20 abreast, i take it the man with larger carriage wont be flying U2 from now on! However there is truth to your rumours. I hear not the 733 cockpit will be fitted but a modified 737-700 one with 4 thrust leavers. Also the new a/c will come in easyjets new striking livery of pink and yellow stripes with each a/c being named after a famous BBC children's character. Names so far include, Clipper of the tinky winky, and virgin po.

Looking at that piece in Airliner World. Expected launch on April 1st[hmmm], the reg. on the 747 in the retouched picture is 'I-GOTU' [for those of you a little slow, I-GOT-U] and leasing the aircraft from Dodo Air [extinct bird] who's chief executive is Ray O'Plodfails [anagram of April Fool's Day].....  Laugh out loud

I Remember this well. i put a post in just to see what reaction I would get.
Easyjet operating 747's? There goes the quick turn around time. With all those A319's they are having, I don't so.
Still it was a good laugh had by all
