I doubt if it's being closed permanently, but I suppose they could close it for re-surfacing or something of that nature.
Runway 05/23 is slated to be twinned at some time in the future - depending on demand. However I can't see them renaming it years in advance of a new runway being commissioned. In any event I was under the impression that the new one would be 05R/23L. Looking at the airport chart, it appears that a new runway to the north of the present one would just about touch the FedEx ramp. OTOH, one on the south side would be very close to the Vista Cargo buildings.

Vista cargo is being removed for the new runway construction, but I imagine this closure is just for some usual runway work, paving, painting etc...They may re-name it...they did it to 24R/06L a few years back before the new one was ready....cause much confusion..."You mean Im cleared to land on 6L but its the one on the right???" Was a common phrase back then...hehehe
