Did any of you also have the experience of travelling to another part of the world, and discovering aircraft you'd never seen before?
On my third trip to Europe, I flew a BA 757 from LHR to TXL. We'd never seen a B757 in Australia before, so the whole concept of a really long narrow body was really bizarre! The "Tall Lady" is now one of my favourite a/c, and I've flown her many times in Europe and in the States.

Back in 1967, when I was 7, I was living in India. Back in the US, I had never seen a Fokker F-27 Friendship (or its US equivalent, the FH-227). I took a flight from Bombay to Udaipur (Rajastan) aboard an Indian Airlines F-27 - what an experience! With the fuselage so low to the ground, I was amazed how fast an airplane could travel. The unobstructed views from the large windows afforded me spectacular vistas of the northern Indian countryside, as well as the unique opportunity to watch the main gear retract and lower. This propliner was clearly different from the DC-8s and 707s to which I had become accustomed!
