Just got this in my e-mail box and thought I'd share it with y'all

Independence is coming!

Dear iCLUB Members:

Thanks to the thousands of you who have signed up for the iCLUB since our name announcement a few months ago. We are now ready to open the floodgates of information to you.

We have been busy developing an airline that will earn your loyalty. We plan to turn our customers into fans by making air travel easier and less expensive, and by challenging the things about air travel that deserve to be challenged. Like building a simple, straightforward fare structure that limits fine print and restrictions. Like building a frequent flyer program that delivers awards that are easy to use. Like always treating our customers with care and respect—on the phone, at the gate, onboard—everywhere.

We are now ready to start spreading some news.

First of all, Independence Air will start flying on June 16. By the end of the summer, we will be operating 300 low-fare flights a day from Dulles to 35 cities. This is the largest and fastest airline brand launch in aviation history. And, that’s just the start. This Fall, we will launch our Airbus service to the West Coast and Florida.

All Independence Air flights are low fare. Not just flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, but every flight every day. In fact, Independence Air will make Dulles Airport the largest low-fare airline hub in the U.S. by the end of the summer.

Here is some more news. As an iCLUB member, you will get $25 off your first roundtrip flight. That’s on any flight on any day to any of our destinations as long as you book your roundtrip travel by September 30, 2004 and fly by December 31, 2004. (See? Not a lot of fine print and restrictions.) Shortly, we will be sending you a temporary password so you can complete your iCLUB registration, enjoy $25 off your first roundtrip, and start earning frequent flyer points with your very first Independence Air flight.

Finally, tickets will go on sale sometime in May, and we will let our iCLUB members know the exact date by email before we tell the rest of the world.

We are going to be very busy over the next few months. By the end of the summer, we think traveling to or from Washington, DC is going to look a lot different.

I cant see UAL s AND DAL s mileage people change to a new airline that already gives poor service to there passengers. They will still stay with there programs, and keep there miles that they have earned. United and Delta s passengers will be some much better off now that they will no longer have to deal with such a ill fated company soon to be called Independence Air.

I think it will be one of the quickest bankruptcy filings of any airline in history! Even investors are calling it 'Insufficient Air'....not an aspicious beginning!

Insufficient? Oh right, they haven't announced their destinations and they begin revenue service in TWO MONTHS!

Might be some light loads on the first few Independence flights out of the "nation's largest low-fare hub."

I guess they are challenging the English language, too! Nice to send a bunch of fragments to "thousands of people!"

I really think that Independence Air will be the end of ACA

I might have my rose colored glasses on, but the optimist in me will have me doing that. Hoping they come to MSP, I will take advantage of that discount and fly them wherever they'll take me this summer. I have no investments or businesses that I need to worry about so I could care less if they go belly up. If IAir can make it work, more power to them. I will take my first and last ACA flight next week, so I might have a different tone then  Wink/being sarcastic.

Just flew on ACA last night from ORD to BUF granted it was a 9:05 flt, but FA was uninthusiastic, pilot was uninthusiastic and just seemed very dull and uninteresting, a far cry from when i flew ACA back in 2001, it then seemed upbeat and cheery. We shall see how quickly this whale goes belly up.

Indy Air is possibly one of the biggest gambles in aviation history...a $100-plus million capitalization, thousands of employees, 80+ ac, all bet on the premise that a CRJ can be run at low-enough CASM to make money on LCC fares.

If they can do this one simple thing, it won't matter if a lot of business people stay addicted to UA or DL FF programs. Indy will generate so much new traffic that they could fill a/c and make money.

If they can't do it, it won't matter how good customer service or frequencies are, or how simple their fare structure is. It'll all be for nought because the thing itself won't be sustainable.

Whatever the result, it's going to be a wild ride for Northern VA the next six or eight months, with lots of low fares and FF promos.

Thats not possible, ACA stopped flying out of ORD almost 2 monthes ago. All UA Express service out or ORD is operated by Air Wisconsin or Sky West.

Let them have a chance at it, its definetely the most bold move in the US Airline business in quite some time.

Either way, flop or success, I'm sure we will be reading about this in textbooks and case studies for years to come.

Actually FlylGuy KBUF737 is correct ACA still flies about a 150 flights a day out of ORD for United. We keep hearing about IAD being trasitioned over to Indy Air I wonder what UA is doing about Chicago?

What United is doing about ORD is filling in the slots that ACA feeds with 6 different airlines to certain levels. As it stand, and what UA has printed, the airlines out of ORD operating under the UAX banner are Air Wisconsin (has been doing ORD for a long time), Sky West (also like Air Wiskey been a UAX carrier for a while but new to ORD routes), Mesa, Transtates, and soon Republic/Chataqua, and Shuttle America.

Right now even with ACA still doing flights out of ORD and Rebuplic/Chataqua and Shuttle America not starting as yet, F concourse at ORD looks like a mess. You got EMB-145, CRJ 200, CRJ 700, and BAE 146s for five different airlines all parked there, plus they're so short on gate space it's not unusual to see 5-6 jets parked in the penalty box (holding box) on a good day.

As for ACA / IAir I hope they do well since I got a few friends working over there and i hate to see them lose there job. Most of the ones that are ORD base and live in the area are dreading IAir for one thing ORD isn't going to be a base and to keep there job there going to have to move or commute to IAD.

Viflyer- Tell your friends that I don't know when it's going to open but ORD is going to be a base of operation. There jobs are safe. We have people from ORD working here at IAD that are just working here till thing get full throtle out of there then they are returning.

Just my thoughts....but NW would have a hard time doing that to WN and god knows people in MSP would die for $34+ tax each way to midway/stl/oma/dtw  Smile

Thanks, I know it will be a warm day in MSP before WN comes to town. If I can fly for less than $200 RT, that is cheap. Good old home  Big thumbs up.

If IAir is cheap enough (see above), I might be able to handle a CRJ. Maybe...

NW did the same thing to Reno air until they were bought by AA. After Reno went away, NW pulled the nonstop flights that had competed with Reno. They're in the process of doing it to Midwest Airlines. They've turned MKE into a focus city with non-stop flights to six Midwest destinations:
