Hi!

Any idea when we exactly will have the chance to see the 744s leased by IB from Singapore Airlines? Will they carry the IB livery? How long is the leasing (?) agreement supposed to last?

Can´t wait to see a IB744 here in MAD.

Thank You all

Well... They are expected for this summer, but I don't Know time about leasing...if IB is happy, maybe for an unlimited period of time.

Great! Can't wait to see it! Too bad IB's livery is so old and boring.

I don't agree that IB's livery is boring, I think is a great classical. If they get painted in our paint shop I'll let you guys know it's in there. I can't wait to see the 747-400 in our colours.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Maybe they'll like them so much, they will re-think the A346...(as they should)

Finally a real aircraft for IB! Not those A346s that were supposed to fly daily to MEx and they don't!!! I really hope this time I see daily IB's 744s flying the famous MAD-MEx route! Can't wait to see them this summer!!!

The wet-leased B744's will not be flying to MEX...they will be flying the MAD-HAV and the MAD-TFN / MAD-LPA route. Sorry!

I saw an IB 744 at JFK last Saturday. I didn't think they had taken delivery yet, but there it was. (Definitely 744 due wingtips with IB logo on them). Sorry, didn't take a picture... not really a spotter.

It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

PA110:

Impossible. What you saw was the B747-300 at JFK as it has been flying there daily. We are not supposed to take delivery of the B747-400 until June or July I believe. I assure you it was not the 744.

Ghost77:

I think maybe you should go to HAV for spotting cause if you keep wishing for delays, we are going to have a lot of unhappy customers!!  Laugh out loud

Hello

According to the newspapers the 744s will be leased by Air Atlanta Icelandic from SQ and then wet-leased to IB. The pilots can't wait! They will be the first 744s registered in Scandinavia. They will start service late June and early July. The newspaper also confirms the routings MAD-TFN/LPA/HAV.

On a final note it's anticipated that Air Atlanta will take on more 744s in this year. Exciting to know where we will see them in service!

So I'll have to fly to the Canary Islands next time in Spain to fly in one?

That would make a great excuse.

As the 744's will be leased from Air Atlanta, and ex-SQ planes, will they retain the "Kris" IFE system in all classes?

Making a vague but educated guess, the Matsushita MAS2000 system (non AVOD but KrisWorld yes) would be supplied with the aircraft.

Which incidentally will apparently be 9V-SMA and 9V-SMC - the oldest MEGATOPS owned by Singapore Airlines Limited at this current moment.

Anyone can fly, only the best Soar.

I posted this in another thread about Air Atlanta getting the 744, but why is IB leasing the 744 when the A346 is supposed to replace IB's 747 fleet? Aren't the 744 and A346 very close to each other in terms of capacity, range and economics? Which aircraft will the A346 replace now that IB has leased the 744?

Saludos A388
