Nice news for ZRH: SAA is back to daily from 4 weekly flights. All flights are operated with A-340-200/300. The additional flights will start this summer (July).

So now it seems that these rumors are wrong. SAA said that the Swiss market is very important for them especially during winter times in Europe....
But we will see..

Good news for ZRH!

Flymunich
I highly doubt, that SAA would switch all flights from ZRH to MUC. It might be possible that they start flights into MUC but I have the feeling that ZRH and the Swiss tourism market is quite important for them and for South Africa.

But of course, this would be good for Swiss which has 6 weekly flights to Jo'burg at the moment.

Let's wait and see but the feeling in some quarters in SAA is that ZRH's days are numbered.

717fan: Are you 100% sure of these additional frequencies to Zurich? There is nothing to reflect the additional flights in either the Amadeus or flysaa.com systems!

I think SAA would need an additional aircraft to provide the extra services.

The airline will indeed be receiving a sixth A340-200 (ZS-SLF) in July. This aircraft will allow the SAA to provide an additional 3 weekly flights to Milan from mid July till end Aug (due to high seasonal demand on the route) At the end of August a new thrice weekly service from Cape Town to Frankfurt will commence using A340-200's.

The whole truth is: daily flights to ZRH as per 15th August 2004, all operated with A340-200.
