PIA has demanded of the federal government to review its bilateral air-link agreements with the gulf countries and some limitations should be imposed over the gulf countries airlines.

Chairman, PIA Ahmed Saeed Awan was talking with newsmen on the occasion of Federal Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal’s visit to PIA head office here.

PIA will begin its flights to Houston, Los Angeles, Moscow, Milan, Shanghai, Ras-ul-Khaimah and Fujairah in the first half of the current year, he told the minister of defence. The airline will also include Glasgow, Damascus, Nairobi and Male in its global network till the end of the current year, he further said.

Talking on PIA’s modernization programme, Awan said that seven new Turbo Prop airplanes would replace the archaic Fokker airliners till December this year.

Does PIA have the aircraft for all this expansion? And what about their 747-200s and A300s? Aren't they ready to be retired? And are they even considering replacing thier A310s and 737s?

If there are in the market for 747s, there are plenty of -400s to be had.

PIA's been talking about Houston on and off for years, I'll believe it when I see the old green plane sitting at IAH. However, I have no doubts that such a flight would work. There is a very large Pakistani population in Houston (a large Indian one as well; AI has wanted to serve IAH for a while too).

Apparently IAH is in the skeds for May or Jun....what I wanna know is 'WOW'..when can LAX expect to see the 743s! That's gonna kick ass...PIA and Air India all showing up within a month of each other! And all 747 service to boot!

LAX is the USA's 747 capital! We rock!

BN747- Yeah, you guys get tons of 747s down there. But up here at SFO, were number three!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy Oh well, at least we are getting EK and VN. That is going to kick ass. Later on, we will probably get AI as well. I hope so anyway.

Yeah BN 747 LAX is the best in the US, by any chance where is ORD on the list, I know in the past few years ORD has become Airbus heaven and Regional Jet Country.... Angry

You got to be careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there.

LEO, I think that ORD is 4th. The top three are LAX, JFK, SFO, and then ORD. I don't know what the 5th is, but I would be willing to bet it would be MIA.

Heard a rumor that they might start IAD service too. Any news on that or is it just a rumor ??

I hope they come into Houston. It is beginning to get boring here. ALthough we do get the Antonov AN124 once a week!

FlyIGuy, it is probably just a rumor. I have heard the same about SFO, but it probably is just a rumor as well.

That sucks ! I hate loading those 100+ pound bags full of curry into the hold of a UA Express Jetstream41 as they connect in JFK most of the time. I was hoping it wasn't a rumor

IAH-Houston is confirmed for May 23rd launch twice a week with B 777s via Manchester.

Why MILAN??? This is strange!!!

As for Moscow...it will be KHI-ISB-MOS A 310s but I bet this flight will carry on to another Western European city from MOS!!!

Instead of starting MXP-MOS-NBO-DAM and MLE...the last 4 were failed destinations of the past for PIA...they should first look at fully restarting its Far East Asian network to SIN-KUL-CGK-BKK-HKG-MNL from KHI and LHE!!!
